Introduction

Good afternoon, folks. This blog is being created as a guide to those who want to know more about SWmud(www.swmud.org).

A quick snippet about myself: I've had the good fortune to play on SWmud for about a decade now. In this time I've had a multitude of different characters and build ideas, and have been able to try out a variety of options and play styles. I have also had several opportunities to play on other MUDs, and I can say, with confidence, that our MUD is one the most fun, addicting, and re-playable pasttimes I have experienced.

That said, the game is old. The draw of a game entirely in text is lost on the general populace, and new players aren't as common as they once were. Over the past few weeks, I've been ecstatic to see some new players (newbies) crop up, but I see them splatter sickeningly into the learning curve that is our MUD. This is supposed to be a bit of an introduction for those newer players, to give them insight into the basics, so they can enjoy the game like so many of us have since its inception.

Lastly, before we venture forth into the what's-to-know's and what-nots, I want to take a quick moment and acknowledge another blog which presents a great amount of information; http://swmud.blogspot.com . This blog hasn't been maintained in almost 5 years, but most of the information is still valid, making it a wonderful resource for any player. I will probably borrow from this site in my posts, and I thank the creator for his effort.

Now, on to what goes on ingame....
